Summary: Stunning picture on Digital Freeview
Comment: I was astounded at the quality of the picture on Freeview digital broadcasts. Detail of scenes is fantastic, certainly the closest to HiDef I've seen from a standard source. Sound is a bit tinny on default, but is OK once you set the Bass & treble.

Summary: A brilliant TV
Comment: This is probably the best LCD I've seen for smoothness of Freeview broadcasts, even - and this was a crucial factor for me - at a close viewing distance.

I work at home and spend long hours at my computer; for me, a TV on the end of the desk is essential. I'd been wanting to replace my 14-inch CRT portable with an LCD flatscreen for a long time, but was worried that because I'd only be around 3-feet away from the screen, it would be very pixellated, as most LCDs are at close quarters.

When I saw this Phillips on display at my local Costco, I knew instantly that I'd found the right LCD for my needs because the picture was so amazingly smooth.

I bought it straight away, took it home, set it up on the desk and was blown away by the quality of the picture even at just 3-feet away. The default 'personal' settings, straight out of the box, were fine, but I tweaked the picture settings to suit my personal taste. There are other 'preset' settings you can choose, such as 'vivid', 'movie', etc.

I can't comment on how DVDs, games, etc., would look on it (though I guess they'd be great if the Freeview picture is this good) and, as always happens with digital TV, some Freeview broadcasts are lesser-quality and will show some pixellation, but overall for the vast majority of the programming I've watched so far, this TV is brilliant and I'd definitely recommend it.
