Summary:
A little reminiscent of Amstrad products in the 80's!!
Comment:
Summary -
Brilliant innovative designs and "functions", built cheaply, resulting in a plasticy product that doesn't work!
Pros -
The concept!
Cons -
The product!
Details
-The touch sensitive screen - isn't, it's incredibly frustrating - inaccurate (even with the supplied stylus), which given its nature would be lost on the first outing I imagine - There's nowhere to store it on the player and besides which, who wants to use a stylus anyhow?
-The menu continues to frustrate - some of the functions are controlled by the "touch screen", others (at seemingly random intervals) are controlled by a very fiddly slider button on the top of the unit - which also locks the touch screen if pushed too far - HANDY !
-There isn't a scroll function in the song tracks menu (or any other menu for that matter) - and the buttons you have to press is so hit and miss it makes the whole experience pointless.
-Most of my audio (mp3) files are "untagged" - using this players file system it was impossible (unless each file was individually tagged) to create any from of playlist. The files did not even arrange alphabetically in the players folders.
-The You Tube downloader and ability to play flash files was a total joke! I use Real player to download You Tube files (in flv format) the player recognises flv format - but not Real player ones! Each file has to be converted to low quality flv 320 x 240 format before the player will recognise them.
-I tried both pieces of software recommended by Kubik to download You Tube videos. Both were very poor in comparison to Real Player - so I shelved that idea.
-When I did eventually convert the flv files to the required quality they loaded and ran well ( the video was actually very good) however the volume of the audio seemingly can not be controlled on video files - The volume control functions in audio mode only - AGAIN HANDY!
-The internal speaker is as pointless as a piece of string and 2 bean tins! (some of the older readers will know what I'm on about).
-The sound quality is reasonable using the supplied headphones and better when using better quality ones - However attempting to enhance bass or modify the sound using the graphic EQ results in total distortion even at very low volumes, hence the sound can not be modified at all!
It's a damn shame that the player is a functionless piece of junk which isn't fit for purpose - because it does have some very interesting features: - A camera which takes really poor pictures, which you can't exit (unless you're lucky - by which time your battery is flat!)
A couple of really crap games - which you will be poor at even if you're good, because the controls don't respond!
The FM radio is a really nice touch mind - but I'd totally lost interest by this time.
I think to conclude it's fair to say you get what you pay for and if you think it's too good to be true - then in this instance it most defiantly is. I'm very disappointed to be honest because I was really excited about this product - sadly it doesn't deliver on any level.
I returned this product to Amazon and bought the Superb Transcend MP860 8gb (with up tp 16gb sd slot) for £55 - See my review.

Poor Product
Comment:
Although we thought this would be the ideal first MP3 for our eight year old son, we unfortunatley found the product to be of poor quality and extremely difficult to use when downloading either films or songs from well knownKubik Edge 8GB 2.8" Touch Screen MP3 & Video Player with Built-in Camera & YouTube PlayerKubik Edge 8GB 2.8" Touch Screen MP3 & Video Player with Built-in Camera & YouTube Player i sites. We still found it impossible to download films even after installing the recommended software from the manufacturer. After our son using the player for 3 days we were then unable to turn the product off. Looks nice but not worth your time or money

A Clever Little Do It All
Comment:
Although this was the second machine I had received the first froze and the charger would not charge, this machine seemed fine. I charged it first for the 6 hours then once finished I tried to use it only to find this too had froze. This time I pressed the reset button with a pin and that was it. The machine lite up like a christmas tree with it's menu screen. I then precided to load my music with it happly accepeted through the windows media player and then later I attempted "YouTube". It did'nt work by simply draging and droping the files, but by reading page 16 in the accompanying insruction book I was able to download a free converting file program and the videos are now all into the machine with ease. Checking on the memory I can put loads of things on this little marvel which is just great. Remembering the actual price of this machine the quality is fantastic and like the I Pod touch when turned sideways the picture fills the whole screen. Please don't expect Archos or IPod picture quality but trust me you will be happly surprised. And to add to this machines charm you will also find a very good FM radio and both picure and video capabilities. In all a great little machine to have to kill a few minutes in a waiting room or while travelling.

good product
Comment:
bought this item to replace my old sony mp3 player and for the money there is no better value. When loading music it was a simple case of drag and drop. Occasionally it will freeze or take a while to respond when you use the touch screen but i found using the push buttons on the front much quicker. Try and avoid comparing it with an ipod as that product is way more expensive that would be like comparing a ferrari with a ford fiesta, in that they both do the same job but one is supremely more expensive and looks better. Overall its functional, has a large memory and is simple to use. alot of reviews on here compare it to more expensive products and as normally is the case they want it all but for free. If you want a good player at very good value for money then buy this.
