Summary: Had to spend a fortune on returning it
Comment: Ordered it in time for Xmas; it turned up in the 2nd week in January. Remote control broke after 3
days. Asked Amazon to send me another remote; they shipped a whole new dvd player. Which was just as
well, as once the new remote was working I noticed that the original player had sound out of sync
with the picture.

The new DVD/ remote works fine - but it cost me £12 (half the price of the
unit) to ship the malfunctioning one back!

Summary: A Fantastic buy!
Comment: I was looking to buy a multi-region DVD player, but didn't want to pay hundreds of pounds. When I
saw the Starlogic DVD player on Amazon for £29.99, I thought I won't be loosing anything at that
price even if it only lasts a few months. I've had mine since last November and I must say it's a
great machine that does everything is says in the review on Amazon. Every DVD i've brought works
first time. Occassionally the lip sync may be out slightly, but if you pause and press play again
it's fine for the rest of the film. I'd definately consider buying this DVD player, as it's a great
buy and definately worth the five star rating!

Summary: Quality at a low price
Comment: this is a quality DVD player at a cheap price, this DVD player plays all region dvds so you can
import cheaper DVDs from the states and other countries, this can be connected to a stero system to
improve sound quality as it only a 2.1 system and not a 5.1 system.

plays copies ok as long as
the disk is in good condition. any heavy amount of scrathes wont play properly as the laser is very
sensitive to marks on the disk.

Summary: PERFECT AT 30 POUNDS, OFF THE CHART AT 25!!
Comment: I'm a technophile. I have a bose surround system and a 40 inch widescreen tv. Before this DVD
player I had a dvd player with so many bells and whistles, it BROKE DOWN in less than a year. I'm
considering a multi-region DVD recorder, but wasn't willing to pay the price yet, as I know they'll
be coming down dramatically within the year. But I needed to watch something in the meantime. A 30
pound temporary DVD player was the answer (it was 30 pounds when I bought it).

Boy was I wrong!
It wasn't just the answer, it was THE PERMANENT SOLUTION. It plays EVERYTHING! DVD-R's, DVDs of all
regions, etc. Quality is perfect. My friend brought over some of his compressed DVDs and it
decodes them perfectly. I was very dubious about getting a cheap unit, cause I knew I would be very
annoyed if there was anything I couldn't do.... but since it was (at that time) temporary anyway, I
was willing to live without some features. Nevertheless, this DVD has done it all.

To be
honest, the lack of display doesn't bother me at all, in fact, I think it's the ideal design.
There's nothing worse in a dark quiet movie setting than little green lights and numbers that you
have to cover to ignore. The display is easy to call up by pressing one button on the remote
(OSD). It places the display on the top of the screen.

Sound is great. Haven't noticed a
difference, and I'm very picky about my sound. Then again, I do have a very good sound system, so
not sure if it's the player, or if my system is good enough to offset any shortcomings.

The lag
time. It is true that sometimes (rarely), there has been a slight lag between the actors and the
sound in some movies (not sure if it's always my region 1 dvds or not... still trying to figure that
out). However, a quick press of the pause button and play usually sorts it. I would have given the
unit a 4 star for this, instead of 5, except: THE PRICE WENT DOWN, and my other EXPENSIVE unit used
to do this too. Then again.... it broke down. So who knows!?

Great unit GREATER price. Don't be
scared of this unit.... GO FOR IT. I hate wasting time... I wouldn't write this much if I didn't
mean it. :)
