This device uses FM radio to broadcast the MP3 files from any attached USB device (pen drive, MP3 player, USB hard drive etc, SD/MMC Card.) to a preselected radio channel on your car FM radio. Simply plug into the cigarette lighter outlet, insert your USB drive, press play, and your MP3s start playing. The FM frequency is adjustable so you can select the clearest frequency within 15 channels - the small display on the device shows your selection. This latest version now includes onboard position memory. Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: didn't do what I wanted Comment: In spite of all the good reviews this product didn't work for me for the purpose that I needed it for - i.e. listening to mp3 tracks from a usb memory stick. It recognised the stick but couldn't play the music. It was also not able to recognise an i-pod. It did however work and work well in playing music from a conventional Mp3 player. It would have been great if it had worked! Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing gadget! Comment: i just love this product. I found it to work very well. I use a couple of 2GB memory sticks rather than a larger capacity stick because I find that it's easier to search out any tracks that I might want to skip to. I have also connected my MP3 player and find that works very well so all in all I'm a very happy bunny! Customer Rating: Summary: Reviews here look suspicious Comment: I only have expereince seeing a friend's work, and it's ok - it works and does the job. But, come on, look at all the 5 star reviews here. If you look at all the reviews by those who rated this 5 stars, the vast majority have only reviewed one item - this one. And of those who award less than 5 stars, a much higher proportion have rated more than one item. This might make a suspicious buyer beware - some of these reviews may not be what they seem - don't they seem a bit too positive?!. Customer Rating: Summary: Good value, but could be better... Comment: At under £15 this is very good value for money. There are a few qualms - you cannot fast forward within tracks and as the unit is prone to being banged by your hand (as you change gear) it is annoying when it reboots and starts a track all over again. Again, if it is music, not really a problem, but for audiobooks it is a pain. Also the perennial problem that as you drive around the country local FM stations can interfere with the signal. I find I have to keep changing the transmission frequency to listen without fading and other forms of interference. However, I really do rate this unit - especially like being able to insert a 2GB SD card and listen to music without fuss and bother (complaints above aside.) Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent but poor instructions Comment: For the price, this is an excellent piece of kit with reasonable audio quality once an (almost) unused FM frequency has been selected. Unfortunately the instructions are pathetic. Thanks to Mr Richard Brown (see his comments) I now know that it can shuffle the tracks and that the volume it transmits to the radio can be modified - nothing was mentioned in the instructions or on the Amazon site to suggest this.
