Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Dissapointed Comment: I bought RAC 200 based on customer feedback some good and some bad, to use on a driving holiday to Cornwall, while I found the unit to be very easy to use and the mounting kit good quality, the battery went flat very quickly from removing and stowing to installing back in the car,unfortunately the maps pre-installed were years out of date as was the safety camera function, we were driving down roads that did not exist according to the sat nav system which was utterly useless at finding addresses in Cornwall,all roads led to the same farm!, we continued to try it out over the next few months with some journeys not being a problem but others it just seemed to be unable to calculate simple journey, there are no updates available for this unit and there never will be according to route 66 who did the software for the system as a special not to be updated package, I never have been able to get to speak to anyone on the RAC helpline kept in a queue gave up after 10mins each day I rang, I wrote to Amazon who have been very helpful and they agreed to take the unit back after 6 months and they have given me a full refund, overall I was very dissapointed with the product, but if you are not going to venture far and you are going to drive in areas where there have been no road changes at all and you dont mind having 2002 road maps and are not bothered that once you buy the unit you can not update it then this is the sat nav for you, I have now just purchased the Tomtom V4 and I wait with bated breath to see if this unit will be better. Customer Rating: Summary: If you want to waste time and petrol buy this Comment: RAC 200 GPS Unit EUROPE UP DATE Navigate from Gainsborough to Colchester Tom-tom 160 miles 3 hours RAC 240 Miles 4 plus hours. Was not capable of intelligent reroute. I drove another regular route, it offered me a route 26 miles longer than I knew to be the quickest route. After travelling 60 miles and being only 90 miles from the destination it was trying to get me to take a 178 mile route. 25 Miles away it offered a 50 mile route. I purchased this for my daughter to help and keep her safe on the roads. She must have travelled hundreds of extra miles. I trusted the RAC label, I was wrong. Buyer beware. I coiuld not give it less than one star. Customer Rating: Summary: Do not buy this sat nav Comment: RAC 200 Satelite Navigation Bought two of these rac sat navs,first one worked ok for while then battery would not charge but was ok when working,sent back got refund. Second RAC sat nav would not work at all so again sent back,have now paid little bit more and got tom tom,absolutely great,so do not buy rac. Customer Rating: Summary: God little thing for A-B Comment: Can't really fault this thing as it hasn't really gone wrong for me. Great clear instructions (roundabout instructions much clearer than TOMTOM). For the price, its a nice piece of kit. The mount it rock solid, if a little over engineered and boulder-some. Only comes with car charger, so how they expect you to do a full charge without the engine on, whilst sucking the life out of your car battery i'll never know. Fast re-calculation. A bit slow on the old signal pickup but gets there in the end. Would consider paying an extra 20 or so for a TOMTOM next time, for the sleekness and build quality, but this is great for anyone who wants a small cheap sat nav. More Reviews
