Very disappointed. Previously I had used a much less expensive FM transmitter that had the added bonus of a USB port as well as minature jack but this was affected by the recent cold weather and it decided to switch off or change frequency for no apparent reason. So having read all the great reviews for the Kensington I placed the order and was looking forward to some HiFi quality in the car. Unfortunately I have got poor sound quality with very little top end frequency response, a lot of white noise (that's the hiss for those that don't know) at all FM frequencies and I have to turn the rdaio volume up to almost full before I can hear anything (yes the MP3 volume is also at full). So I tried it in the house using a jump starter with an accessory socket, and with the HiFi. Just the same I'm afraid. The only way to get rid of the noise is to place the Kensington within 30cm of the antenna. So I will be getting another of the cheaper type I had before USB Flash Memory MP3 Adapter with 7 FM Channels, which gives a good audio response and very little radio noise.

Tuning in can be confusing
Comment:
Having just purchased this gizmo I spent almost an hour trying to get it to tune to the radio in my car. It seemed to work but the radio wouldn't hold the signal and kept trying to find another station. Eventually got it to work by turning off the Traffic Report function. Now all seems fine. Would have helped if there was some mention of this in the rather simplistic instructions or at least something about it in the FAQ on the website.
One comment... it doesn't have it's own internal power supply so you can't use it in the home ( unless you have a spare car battery laying around)

Didn't fit my car cigarette lighter socket
Comment:
Bought this after my CD player died. Disappointingly didn't fit in my car cigarette lighter socket so I didn't get to try it out. (Ford Fiesta 2001 in case that helps anyone else who may otherwise make the same mistake).
The plastic casing seemed a bit fragile though. Guess that is to be expected for around £20.

dreadful in London
Comment:
Worked fine out in the sticks (other than I mistakenly thought it would also charge my iPod - and since I only have one cigarette lighter hole in my car I have to choose between charging the iPod or using this), but when I got within the M25 it was all over the place. I kept changing frequency, but this was a pain in itself. A stronger signal is what is required here for central London unfortunately, making this model unworkable for me.

Best of a bad bunch
Comment:
I spent a long time looking for an FM transmitter for my new ipod. My car has a tape deck and the tape adaptor was worn-out, so i advanced to the transmitter as i thought i was missing out.
you'll find a frequency quite easily with this transmitter, i have two tuned pre-sets at either end of the bandwidth which i never needed to change over a 250 mile trip. the reception is ok, but often a crackle can come through which you can not alleviate (much to my frustration). sound quality is decent, no more/no less than FM radio. One small negative is how quickly it will turn off without any sound input, or indeed with a low volume input from the ipod it tends to turn off as well!
if you have the tape deck, then you'd be better investing in a tape adaptor as you'll get less hassle with the same quality in sound and cheaper. if you don't, i would get one of these. Despite its eccentricities it is a good purchase.
