Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: 'Easy Home Networking' is written on the packaging and that's exactly what you get!!! Comment: I connected one plug to my BT HomeHub via one of the two ethernet cables provided and then plugged it into a nearby electrical socket. I then went up to the third floor of our house (somewhere a wireless connection often struggles), connected the second plug to my MacBook via the second ethernet cable and again plugged the unit into a nearby electrical socket and that was it, done! I switched off the Airport wireless facility that is inbuilt to the MacBook and the internet worked like a dream with the fastest page loads I have ever had on my top floor!!! I am ultimately intending to connect my son's XBOX 360 (when it arrives) and am happy that in advance I at least know the system works as it says it will. Another thing, I have plugged one into a Surgemaster extension and the other into a 'normal' strip extension and unlike other reviewers this has not presented any problems (so far!) for me. I am fairly technically minded but would highly recommend these to anybody, especially if the world of wireless is daunting and given the alternative to wireless is more wire than you would know what to do with and holes through every ceiling you cannot fault this tidy and efficient product. Customer Rating: Summary: Does just what it says Comment: I bought this at the same time as a new computer for my daughter. She regularly had problems with the wireless link in the house - she seemed to be in a dead spot. The one minute set up was not much of an exaggeration. I simply plugged everything in and was on the internet at once with connection speeds much quicker than the wireless link and had Firefox downloaded and installed in little over five minutes from making the initial connection. The only niggle is that there is no through socket so you can plug into the back of the device. I have the devices connected via two way plug adapters not ideal, but it keeps the connection direct. I am very satisfied and will probably get one for my own computer and abandon wireless altogether within the house. This seems a much more satisfactory arrangement. Customer Rating: Summary: not quite one minute setup! Comment: The quick start guide seems a bit low on detail - you do have to install and run the configuration utility to set this up! When the manual says plug the device into the local computer, plugging it into the wired network works fine. Top PS3 tip, for impatient users like me - when you want to plug the PS3 into the system, wait until you're prompted to plug in the RJ45 cable, otherwise it doesn't work. Comment: Was amazing how easy the product was to use. Plugged one of them into a electric socket close to my router, connected it to the router. Took the other one upstairs, plugged it into a electric socket and then into my Xbox 360. It connected straight away without any setting up at all.
