Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: bad gear - beware with macs - appalling support Comment: This may be fine with windows, but it will not work with macs without complicated setting up. Two days effort and dead support lines and looking at a useless box. Technical support is absolute rubbish - in fact they are worse than that! I eventually gave up on tech support and solved the problem BY NOT USING NETGEAR'S SOFTWARE. You need to create specific share accounts from the streamer. Best to use specific IP address or SMB computer names. Don't buy if you have a mac and not used to network setups! Worth the effort for its flexibility - but they should tell you more in the manual! Customer Rating: Summary: Hard to connect Comment: As mentioned by another review, I had trouble connecting this to my laptop and wireless router. Installation manual is useless - it just says "connect to TV, connect to pc" but gives no guidance how to actually do it. Besides, it requires cable connection to router which, in my case, is located in different room than my TV so can't be used for the purpose intended. Sorry, can't comment on performance as haven't had a chance to see it work. Is going back to Amazon. I have tried the xtreamer and it was not working with my Netgear Dual Band wireless gateway, and I wanted to use it for my main type of files >ISO .MKV AVI, XVID, etc, I have this unit upstairs in my bedroom and the gateway is downstairs, and it plays seemlessly, some great extras on it to like the internet radio and RSS feeds I would highly rate this as one of the best Customer Rating: Summary: Netgear eva9150 Comment: Great product for any modern living room. Allows you to displays your pictures (e.g. JPG) on your TV, play digital movies (e.g. Divx, AVI, mkv, mp4 etc) on your TV or listen to music (e.g. mp3). You can do this by attaching a USB drive, or using wireless or wired network link to your home PC network. The device also has an in built 500MB hard drive for your files. This unit took me about 1-2 hours to set up completely out of the box to a readynas and seperate hard drive, simplicity its self. I've only given it 4 stars rather than 5 as I've not spent much time watch files yet but the ones I have appear at warp speed after a very short buffering period, I doubt I'll even bother installing the ethernet adaptors!
