I won't repeat the virtues of this equipment which have already been described by other positive reviewers.
Strictly speaking, this is not a "USB turntable", that's just one of the options for its use. Nor, indeed, is it necessary to use the USB connection for the equipment to work with a computer - it can be connected with the provided RCA connector to the Line In of a sound card (with the turntable set on "LINE"), in which case no problem arises with not hearing playback and any audio software with a "record" button should work okay (by preference I don't use Audacity). All the LPs I've recorded have been done this way.

Excellent value, easy to use software
Comment:
Got one of these for Christmas to replace my old broken JVC deck. It does the job well.Trying to find a USB turntable that is belt driven with tone arm adjustments, is a tough one. It did not work with my old HP laptop, after wasting a morning trying to get audacity to work, it turned out the laptops USB connection was faulty. Plugged it straight into a Dell laptop and it worked straight away(Windows xp )Make sure you set up the software as described in the back of the Soundlab booklet and you can hear what your recording.I've recorded about a dozen albums so far without a hitch. It also sounds great through my HiFi using the supplied phono leads. If your looking to spend under £100 this has got to be the best buy!

Sound lab deck does the business
Comment:
OK, I bought this after reading all the reviews. It is certainly a good deck - not automatic...I think that's why it is described as 'professional'. The tone arm as a counterweight and anti skid control. the best thing is you can use it with an amplifier with a phono stage, or just an auxiliary input, as you can turn an in built preamp on.
It does what it claims, but there are few things you need to know. Forums are saying the Audacity doesn't like Realtek sound cards - it does, but you need to have the latest drivers, especially if you are running Windows 7 like me. Also, set the input volume of the usb2 audio codec device to just 5% in the recording devices menu as I found the sound-in distorted. Also, switch to phono to reduce the deck's output level. Otherwise the instructions are fine. Audacity has online help and the forum is useful too.
