Ignore all five star reviews
Comment:
I have been trying to find a decent pair of headphones for my iPod after an accident with the vacuum cleaner destroyed my old pair..
I have had Sennheiser headphones in the past (not ear buds tho) and know you can rely on their quality... so having seen so many great reviews for the cx300 I purchased with little hesitation.
What I really can't believe is that so few people have picked up on (or simply ignored) the fact the headphones pick up and amplify every movement of the cable.. so if you are using these on the go/at the gym, they are absolutely useless... they isolate background sound well, but this is only really any good if you sit perfectly still and don't move the cable, otherwise you just have a constant booming rustling noise in your ears..
edit: i have just seen a few five star reviews that do mention this - as if it is not a problem.. maybe you can get used to it, but I don't personally think the sound quality is that different from normal Apple ear phones to put up with this
a total waste of money

Shame about the hissing
Comment:
I have tried this with my iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano. Good sounds quality when playing songs but it's a real shame about the hissing between songs or when pausing songs when using this with my Shuffle. Interestingly the problem doesn't appear on the Nano.

Very impressive
Comment:
I'm loving these so far, the bass gives a good kick and the treble is crisp and clean. I particularly noticed that they handle distortion very well, as a couple of my previous pairs of earphones (by different brands) would often succumb to music such as rock and metal by throwing out distorted output at moderate to high volume. The CX 300's have had no such problems whatsoever, and maintained high quality sound.
The right fit is important to achieving optimal bass and treble response but the buds provided are flexible and should accomodate to most people's needs. They're also solid and have stayed in-ear comfortably for as long as I've needed them to.
Excellent value for money, since you'll be hard pressed to find other earphones that can match up in terms of overall quality for this kind of price.

Great Sound, Great price!
Comment:
I bought these as a replacement for the standard IPOD earphones.
I was impressed form the start, good, bass, loud, light and easy to use - once the correct ear adapter has been chosen.
The phones really do block out a lot of ambient sound with the added bonus of no external leakage that will annoy fellow passengers when commutingetc.
The only draw back I can really find is the amount of cable rattle when walking etc. But this is basically a 'feature' of this type of ear phone and is a trade off against the quality of sound and the lack of background noise when commuting etc.
Many reviews for these mention loss of sound in one or both ear pieces over time. I experienced this after 5 months or so and toyed with the idea of returning and buying another product.
In the end I googled the problem and found an answer. Advice on an audio forum suggested gently removing the gauze and cleaning the back of it. I was a tad sceptical but decided to give a go and lo and behold, it has worked a treat. I was surprised at the amount of muck that had accumulated on the back of the gauze!
The sound is now as good a new!!

Bin your Apple Ipod earphones for these!
Comment:
Firstly, I'm no audiophile but I know that I like an balance of bass and treble. In the past, I've always been disappointed by earphones as they usually failed to deliver the bass end.
I bought these with confidence as a) I have bought Sennheiser before, and b) have used the earbud style earphones from other manufacturers before. These did not disappoint at all.
They come with 3 bud sizes - I simply had to swap the fitted medium pair for the small from experience and they fit superbly. Whilst I'm not going to use these for running, I'm certain I'd have no problems with them.
I also like the assymetric lead - provided you can remember which is left and which is right, you will never be doubting whether you have inadvertently put the left bud in the right ear and vicki versa.
For the reviewers who post they don't fit, one size doesn't fit all. The manufacturer tries to accommodate all by providing the 3 bud sizes but alas, there will be disappointment for the few. If your's don't fit, drop me an email and I'll take them off for hands for you
In my view, these beat the standard iPod supplied earphones hands down - my experience of those supplied are that they are uncomfortable, have a tendency to fall out, distort easily, poor base reproduction, poor volume and noise leakage both ways. Bin those if you have the same experience as me and swap for the Sennheiser CX300s.
